Update on Low Temperatures in Classrooms

2/2/2022

Dear Members,

Over the past few days, some of you have contacted us about cold classrooms and offices.   In response we reached out to Human Resources informing them of your 55-degree classrooms and offices.

Their reply stated that Facilities is aware of heat issues in some areas and has fixed or working to fix the issues in our almost fifty-year-old buildings.

The Point: What Now?

Greetings, Colleagues:

I hope the beginning of the semester has brought you minimal chaos and some engaging contact with colleagues and students.  It has been a lonely time for many of us, and starting a new semester at least offers the promise of some energizing f2f activity.

The Point: The Ability to Function

1/24/2022

Greetings, Colleagues:

Happy New Year!

I truly hope you got what you needed—rest, focus, fun—over this winter break.

Welcome Back – member meeting on Wednesday the 26th

1/21/2022

Dear Members,

Goodbye 2021….and hello 2022!  We hope you got a well-deserved break and are ready for what promises to be a challenging Spring semester.

The University’s Covid safety protocols are not where the FSU would like them to be, especially in terms of testing, masking, and social distancing, but we are nonetheless returning to face-to-face teaching this semester.  Requests to temporarily move your class to a remote modality should be made through your Department Chair.

Covid – get tested now and encourage students to do the same

1/18/2022

Dear FSU Members,

As many of you know, universities across the region and country are requiring Covid testing and N95/KN95 masks (and social distancing) as higher ed institutions return to class during the Omicron spike.   The UMass system has decided not to implement any additional safety measures beyond what was in place for the Fall.
