Feb 18th All Union Town Meeting Update and Actions

2/26/2025

Dear Members,

200 members of the four campus unions gathered to meet with the Chancellor, the Provost and other members of upper administration on Tuesday, February 18th. We wanted to share our concerns and fears about federal government threats to members of our community on the basis of immigration status, gender identity, and race, and attacks on higher education including cuts to federal grant funding.

Federal policy changes: Attend the MTA higher ed member meeting- join the higher ed working group to fight back!

2/25/2025

Dear Members,

Over the past month the attacks launched by the federal administration have hit higher education raising concerns about federal research funding, DEI programs and policies, and the safety of our immigrant students, staff, and communities.

Join in Determining Actions to Take

To meet these attacks, higher ed unions have been bringing together members from across all our local chapters to figure out how we can stand together and fight back! We will be meeting every Thursday morning to continue this work.

2/20/2025

This week’s Point was written by Steve Striffler, a professor in Labor Studies.

The FSU’s core bargaining team has proposed abolishing the Associate Lecturer category.   Wait?  What?   Why?  What will happen to the approximately 200 Associate Lecturers currently teaching on campus?  They will get a promotion to Lecturer! -- a slightly less exploited category of NTT faculty.
