Nuts & Bolts: FSU Annual Meeting, RES funds, anti-racism events, and retirement forum recording

4/22/2024

Dear Members,

Today is Earth Day!   The first earth day took place in 1970 and included activities across the country.  Why April 22nd?  Oddly, the date was selected because it was partway between spring break and final exams plus there is milder weather in April.

FSU Annual Meeting, April 23rd at 3pm

The Point: GEO Summer Woes

4/18/2024

This week’s Point was written by GEO Organizing Committee Member Chidimma Ozor Commer, PhD, LMSW. School of Global Inclusion and Social Development (graduating in May!)

Dear FSU members,

As many of you know, we are in the throes of preparing for bargaining. In the meantime, another pressing issue we are currently dealing with is how UMB deals with summer employment for graduate student employees.  The current protocols have negatively impacted countless graduate student employees.

Surprise! Admin Shows Up, but Refuses to Bargain

4/9/2024

Dear FSU Members,

We had a fantastic bargaining session yesterday. Over 20 of our members were present as part of our expanded bargaining team and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the Administration’s bargaining team showed up after they said they would not be coming because a few of our members had to be on Zoom.

Unfortunately, the administration is still refusing to bargain over the issues and is continuing to waste time insisting that no one can ever be on Zoom.
