Stand With Your Union!

2/27/2026

Greetings,

Our members are being targeted by a national campaign to weaken public sector unions and strip workers of their rights and power. You may have received an email or mailing urging you to opt-out of paying union dues. The Freedom Foundation, a Koch-funded anti-union organization, is behind this campaign and others like it happening around the country.

The Freedom Foundation is bankrolled by billionaires eager to shrink public spending on education, health care, and social services.

MTA credits member advocacy for halting health cuts

2/24/2026

Dear Faculty and Librarians,

On Monday, MTA received notification that Governor Healey withdrew her request to shift 100 million in healthcare costs (higher co-pays, deductibles, and premiums) from the Commonwealth onto us.

Why did this happen?  FSU and other MTA union members who sent numerous emails and made telephone calls.  Thank you to all who took action.

The MTA press release is below.

Sincerely,

Caroline Coscia                             Jason Rodriquez

Parking Bargaining – Update

2/18/2026

Dear Member,

How do you get to campus? Do you ever drive & park on campus?  Do you take the T?

Our UMB campus unions have been fighting for years to lower the parking rates and raise MBTA subsidies for all UMB community members– students, staff, faculty and librarians-- which most other Boston-based colleges and many public agencies have already done.

Delayed! GIC Vote on Benefit Design Changes

2/12/2026

Dear Faculty and Librarians,

This morning the GIC commissioners voted to postpone action on benefit design changes which are the increases in our deductibles, co-pays, premiums, and to continue covering critical prescriptions such as GLP-1s.

How did this happen?  You. Everyone who sent an email to the GIC and to legislators urging them not to raise the rates.

The commissioners acknowledged receiving over 450 pages of emails.  One commissioner specifically mentioned the number of state legislators who contacted them to vote no.
