Your raises are finally coming and other news from the FSU

10/15/2018

Dear Colleague,

Some great news and reminders from the FSU.

Your raises:  Even though you ratified our contract in the summer, we have not received our raises because the legislature and Governor had yet to validate and fund our contracts (and other UMass contracts).  The House Ways and Means Committee just released a supplemental budget to fund these, and we expect both Houses to pass this and for the Governor to sign.  Yes you will receive retroactive pay.

Parking Bargaining update:

Administration Continues to Propose Excessive Rate Increase

FSU President Marlene Kim’s remarks to the Board of Trustees, UMass Lowell, September 19, 2018

9/21/18

FSU President Marlene Kim’s remarks to the Board of Trustees, UMass Lowell, September 19, 2018.

I am the President of the Faculty Staff Union at UMass Boston.  I broke my leg this past weekend, so I wasn’t going to address you today.  But I decided to appear because I wanted to tell you that UMass Boston is broken.  We’ve been appearing at Board of Trustees meetings for over two years to tell you that it is broken, but we have received few resources and little help.

Take action against the proposed parking fee increases, other updates

9/17/2018

Dear Colleague,

We hope your semester is going well. As you know, the Executive Committee is committed to working as closely as possible with the other campus unions and Save UMB to roll back the parking fee increase the administration is seeking to impose.  If we are to succeed, we need your support.  A number of activities are happening this week, and in the near future.  Please consider supporting the presence at the Convocation on Thursday and participating in the other opportunities listed below:

Open letter on parking bargaining from FSU member Bonnie Miller

9/14/2018

Dear Faculty,

I attended the FSU meeting today on parking, and the turnout was pretty light. I get it because my schedule is crazy, too, but this parking issue is too important to let our busy schedules get in the way. So in order to make sure everyone is in the loop, I am going to break it down here for everyone.
