In the News – Africana Studies and Dorchester Bay City

4/22/2022

Dear FSU Members,

We wanted to make sure everyone saw two important pieces in local media outlets.

The first appears in the Bay State Banner and recounts the ongoing struggle by UMB faculty to secure resources for the Trotter Institute and the Africana Studies Department -- Africana Studies just had two faculty searches cancelled by the Administration (after months of work) without a compelling explanation.

The second appears in the Dorchester Reporter and is an opinion piece, co-authored by FSU member Tim Sieber, that charts the campus community’s longstanding relationship with Dorchester and raises concerns about “Dorchester Bay City,” the proposed mega-project that will transform the region.
