Monday Day of Action, No Health Care Cost Increases On Average And Other News From The FSU

2/23/2018

Dear Colleagues:

We hope your semester is going well.  Here’s the latest news:

This Monday, February 26 is the national WORKING PEOPLE'S DAY OF ACTION! Public and private sector workers across the country will be taking part in actions to send a clear message to the Supreme Court that we will protect our freedom to join unions and fight for a better life for all people.  At UMass Boston we'll be "standing in" on the first floor of the Campus Center, from 12-1 pm, to show our support for our students, for public education, and for our right to unionize.  Join us with our sister unions!

Please RSVP!

►Parking survey:  You received this in an email yesterday.  Please take it so we know your thoughts for bargaining this topic.

►Your Health Care Costs Will Not Change on Average:  There will be NO cost increases on average this year, with some plans reducing the cost.  “About half the enrollees in the Group Insurance Commission will see a decrease in their premiums in fiscal 2019 and on average there will be zero increase in premiums,” GIC Executive Director Roberta Herman said yesterday (see here for more on this story).  More information will be forthcoming.

► Fourth year/tenure and promotion review informational workshop: will be held Thursday, March 29, 2-4 in the Integrated Sciences Complex, 3rd Fl., Room 3300. The Office for Faculty Development and the FSU will be hosting this.
