Updates From the FSU

2/10/17

Dear Colleague,

Welcome back to campus for those of you who are returning.  For those of you who are new, welcome to UMass Boston.  This is what is going on:

Please take the FSU bargaining survey. It was sent on Tuesday, Feb. 7th with the subject:  ‘Your input is needed for bargaining.’ Because it is being sent by a third party, you may have received a notice saying that it failed the fraud detector test.  It is legitimate!  Please take it!  A reminder notice will be sent today.

Some of you may have had your bargaining survey information overwritten or may have received a message indicating that the link was no longer valid if you clicked on the link sent by the subsequent email ‘Please take the survey we just sent you—it is legitimate’.  You will be receiving a reminder email today to take this survey with the correct link.  Please do, and ignore the fraud detector failure message that may accompany this.

FSU Elections: If you are an FSU member in good standing you can run for office for the FSU’s Executive Committee (slots are open for Vice President, tenure track (2 positions), pre-tenure track, and non-tenure track (2 positions). The nomination period will be ending today at 5 pm. Elections will be held this shortly after that.  See here for more information. Feel free to contact us if you have questions.

Fourth year review/tenure review informational workshop: will be held Thursday, March 23 at 2 pm in the Campus Center, room 3545.   The Office for Faculty Development and the FSU will be hosting this.

Starving the Beast:  The Battle to Disrupt and Reform America’s Public Universities, a movie, will be shown on Thursday, February 16, 5-7 pm in the Ryan Lounge, McCormack Hall, 3rd floor.  Barbara Madeloni, Massachusetts Teachers Association President, will be speaking afterwards.

FSU members in good standing are eligible for free retirement consulting meetings (NOTE: agency fee payers are not eligible for this service):
