Rally on Friday at noon and petition for the Early Learning Center

Below are the latest updates from the FSU:
► Budget cut update:
- If you have not already done so, let us know how these cuts are affecting your departments and sign the FSU petition here.
- As many of you know, the university is now planning to cut the Early Learning Center on campus. The Professional Staff and Classified Staff Unions are asking that people sign this petition protesting these cuts.
- This Friday, July 14, at noon is a rally to protest these cuts and to deliver this petition. Meet on the Plaza at the Steelworker’s Statue.
► The "replacement" for the Affordable Care Act (also called Obamacare) is a rollback of federal funding for Medicaid. To compensate for the loss of federal support, states are likely to divert money from education to health care and limit the number of Medicaid beneficiaries, the scope of Medicaid benefits, or both.
Postponement of the vote is encouraging, but doesn't mean the battle is won. Go to nea.org/stoptrumpcare or click on the take action button and tell your senators to oppose the terrible GOP health bill.

The MTA Summer Conference will be at UMass Amherst from July 30-August 3. Take MTA-sponsored workshops on everything from grievance and member advocacy training to time management strategies, and meet fellow MTA members from across the state.
