(contact the FSU office to see the preliminary FY20 budget and a report from the Treasurer.) You can also email your thoughts to fsu@umb.edu. A final version of the proposed FY20 budget will be sent to members in advance of the FSU Annual Meeting.
►Board of Trustees Meeting: This Wednesday, April 3, 9 am: Some UMB faculty will be addressing the Trustees regarding the Mount Ida issue. Come support us in the Faculty Conference Room, UMass Medical School. 55 Lake Avenue North, Worcester, MA
►PMYR Money: Tenure track faculty members and librarians can receive $2,500 following a successful PMYR review (see Article 34 of the contract for more info). Notification regarding these funds are sent by the Dean’s office in the fall following your PMYR the previous year.
►Research and Educational Support money is available for all NTT and TT faculty who are 50% or more for teaching, research, and travel expenses. You should have received an email from your Dean’s office regarding the amount of money you should receive. Check with your Dean’s office for this amount and for your deadlines.
►Unused RES Funds to go to Healey Library: According to our contract, the FSU and the Administration agrees on how to spend any unused RES Funds (see Article 26.6.1.a of the contract). The FSU has proposed, and the Administration has agreed, to allocate unused RES Funds to the Healey Library (we don’t know how much money this will be until the end of the fiscal year; last year the total unused RES Funds were approximately $100,000).
►Retirement counseling from the MTA. Sessions are available in their Quincy and Worcester offices to help members decide the best time to retire, determine if you have buy-back opportunities, provide information on retiree health insurance, Medicare and Social Security benefits, and answer many other questions. Please see here for more information and to schedule an appointment.
►MTA Annual Meeting: The Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) Annual Meeting will be held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Friday and Saturday, May 3-4. Let us know if you want to be a delegate to this meeting by April 15. For more information, see www.massteacher.org/annualmeeting.
