Dear Colleague,
Bargaining with the administration over parking has come to an impasse, and we have now entered non-binding mediation (see the update here). The UMB administration has refused to budge on key aspects of their parking plan, which still includes plans to impose a $15 per day parking rate on our public commuter campus for on campus parking (West Garage, Lot D, Campus Centre garage), as well as the elimination of multi-use passes.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 12 noon, come to ISC, 2nd floor, room 2003, and join other faculty members who are concerned about the administration's parking plan. If you cannot attend in person, you can attend via Zoom (contact the FSU for this info.). We will hear proposals for union action, including a draft boycott pledge for the West Garage, and a call for a one-day Parking Strike sponsored by Save UMB. We want to hear from you. Bring your energy and ideas--and bring a friend! Pizza will be served.
Faculty must mobilize if we are to stop this parking fee hike!
In solidarity,
Members of the FSU Parking Organizing Committee:
John Hess, Senior Lecturer II, English/American Studies, FSU Vice President
Marlene Kim, Professor, Economics, FSU President
Joe Ramsey, Lecturer, English/American Studies
Jason Rodriquez, Assistant Professor, Sociology
