Nuts & Bolts: Twas the week before grades due…….

12/19/2022

Dear Member,

Twas the week before grades due, when bluebooks amass

Not a paper was late, not even a one

The grading taking place by daylight with care

In hopes to finish by the deadline for sure

(My apologizes to our English colleagues and to Clement Clark Moore)

This is the final Nuts & Bolts of the semester. Before we say goodbye for a while, we wanted to provide a few reminders including one on public higher education funding.

Winter break communications

The FSU is aware faculty members limit their work during this time. Your union is working and may send an email or two on items requiring you to be informed as soon as possible.

Fall parking passes expire on Jan 15th

Fall semester parking passes expire on January 15, 2023.  Spring semester passes starts on January 16th and end on May 31st.

Bargaining for the successor agreement

The FSU and the Core Bargaining Team (CBT) formally requested to begin bargaining in late January. All future bargaining related communications will come from the CBT email account.

FSU Annual Election

Our national elections are now over, and we can focus on the FSU election for members of the FSU Executive Committee and Vice President.  The Dec 12th Nut & Bolts included the election schedule and open positions.   Election related information will come from the Elections Committee email account.

Public Higher Education funding – please sign the petition

The MTA is working to make sure public higher education receives a portion of the anticipated Fair Share Amendment monies.  To make this a reality we need your help.

In January, the MTA plans to present Governor-elect Healey a petition with thousands of names asking her to increase funding.  We want to make sure that we contribute to the number of signers.  Please take a moment and add your name to the list. Here is the link: https://forms.office.com/r/xEYSgFe9h6. Funding success begins with our collective power.

Enjoy the season with family and friends.  We hope you enjoyed reading this space and we look forward to a bright 2023.

Sincerely,

Caroline Coscia
