Dear FSU Member,
You should have two received emails from Human Resources News over the last few weeks, one with information on revised Title IX Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedures and Sexual or Gender-Based Misconduct Harassment Procedures, and one with information on a new Ethical Relationships Policy (links to all three policies, an FAQ for the Ethical Relationships Policy, and a link to UMB’s Title IX office are below).
Regarding the differences between the Title IX Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedures and the Sexual or Gender-Based Misconduct Harassment Procedures, members should be aware of a few key points (also see this Power Point slide provided by Brigid Harrington, Director of Civil Rights and Title IX, outlining key differences):
We encourage all members to review these policies and to follow up with the FSU and/or Brigid Harrington if there are any questions or concerns.
We also wanted to note that all 3 of these policies were agreed to by the FSU and Admin (in the case of the Ethical Relationships Policy, by Admin, FSU, and our colleagues in the Professional Staff Union). An extensive amount of work and discussion went into reaching these agreements (see here for more on the agreement we reached last February on the sexual harassment policy). We wish to thank all the FSU and PSU members who worked diligently on behalf of all members to bring the final policies to fruition.
Sincerely,
Steve Striffler Caroline Coscia
