Dear Members,
We write to inform you that the FSU Executive Committee has submitted testimony in support of the Cherish Act. The attached was sent to the Joint Committee on Higher Education for the September 18th public hearing.
Event Reminders:
Today (Thursday), the FSU joins with our sister unions in holding a UMass Boston Stands Up for the Cherish Act legislative luncheon 12:00-1:00PM in the ISC, 3300. State legislators from Boston will be in attendance. There is still time to register, go to https://www.mobilize.us/massteacher/event/577948/
Hear students and staff explain how the continued erosion of public higher education funding by the Commonwealth has impacted their jobs and our students. Let’s tell the legislators why they need to support and pass the Cherish Act.
September 18th the Joint Committee on Higher Education is holding a 10AM public hearing on the Cherish Act. Oral testimony will be presented. If you wish to attend, there is a bus going from UMB to and from the State House. To register go to https://www.mobilize.us/massteacher/event/570490/
We want to fill Gardner Auditorium. The more attendees the more attention the legislation receives. If you are not able to attend, you may watch the livestream at https://malegislature.gov/Events/Hearings/Detail/4677
Sincerely,
