Proposed Increases in Health Insurance Costs- Join the Fight to Stop the Increases

1/20/2026

Dear Members,

Last Friday you received an email from Marie Bowen, Vice Chancellor of Human Resources, confirming when we will receive our January 2026 pay raise.

This is great news but some of that raise may be taken away by changes in our health insurance plans.

Nuts & Bolts: FMLA outsourcing, transportation survey, period of non-responsibility, FSU June to August, FSU Executive Committee and MTA Summer Conference

5/20/2024

Dear Members,

This week is why we do what we do.  Commencement week is exciting.  Our students are amazing – they work many hours off campus, commute (this year with multiple T closures), and participate in student organizations. Watching the number of students who rise when the Chancellor asks ‘who are the first in their family to graduate from college’ is heartwarming.

You might be tired from and still grading final papers and exams; but remember you have set your students forward on a path of success.

Nuts & Bolts: Medical leave update, gender designations, back-to-back classes, anti-racism grant events, Cherish Act support, MTA annual meeting and a save the date

Dear Members,

This issue is longer than usual. It is so because we have lots of information to share.

UPDATE: Medical Leave and Third-Party Vendor

Last week’s issue informed you we, along with other UMass unions are working together in coalition and will be taking some actions.  On Friday, March 22nd the FSU sent a formal letter to the Chancellor demanding to cease and desist implementation of the new vendor, FMLASource.
