Taking on the Corporatization of Higher Education
Wednesday, March 18, 4-7 pm
Ryan Lounge, UMB
From skyrocketing tuition and student debt to underpaid, overworked faculty and staff, we all see it happening every day -- more and more, our colleges and universities are running on a corporate business model that controls the very education that is offered, and that hurts students and employees. Come to this forum to hear about how students and higher education workers are organizing and fighting back against the corporate agenda.
The forum will feature: Andriana Foiles Sifuentes, lecturer from UMass Dartmouth; Deborah Keisch, founding producer of Education Radio; and a panel of activists from Debt Free Future, the Student Immigrant Movement, the Center for Education Policy and Advocacy, Adjunct Action, and PHENOM.
Please note: Since FSU is a co-sponsor of this event, our members do not have to pay the $20 registration fee. When you register on-line, you must select a fee rate on the first screen, but then click the "invoice me" option on the second screen. Feel free to make a donation if you wish, but payment is not necessary to attend the event.
