FSU Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

October 18, 2019

Ex Com Members Present: Marlene Kim; Jessica Holden; Joseph Brown; Caroline Coscia; Jeff Melnick; Monique Fuguet; Joe Ramsey; Tracy Brown; Emilio Sauri; Tim Sieber; Sylvia Mignon

Others Present: Lorenzo Nencioli, FSU Membership Coordinator; Katie D’Urso, MTA Consultant; Cat Mazza, FSU TT Grievance Officer

  1. Approval of the agenda: Motion to add approval of CLR’s for Spring 2020, group norms; move 6 (Delayed reimbursements) to #3.  Motion to approve as amended. Motion approved unanimously.
  2. Approval of the minutes: Motion to approve 10/4/19 Ex Com minutes. Motion seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
  3. Reimbursement for Marlene Kim: Motion to approve reimbursement to Marlene Kim for 6/15/18 payment to Dropbox in the amount of $99. Motion to approve. Motion approved unanimously.
  4. FSU Bargaining team and bargaining support team:

MOTION TO ENTER INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION. MOTION TO APPROVE EXECUTIVE SESSION SECONDED. MOTION APPROVED.

MOTION TO END EXECUTIVE SESSION. MOTION SECONDED. MOTION APPROVED.

Motion to appoint Caroline Coscia,Tony Vandermeer, Heike Schotten, Maria Mellone, Steve Striffler, Lisa Gonsalves to be the core speaking representatives of the FSU bargaining team for the 2020-23 successor agreement and Jason Rodriquez and Alex Mueller to serve as 1st and 2nd alternates, respectively.Motion seconded. Motion passes.

     5. CLR’ s for Spring 20: Motion to approve CLR’s for Spring 20 for the following members: Laurie Milliken (Tenure Track Grievance Officer), Marlene Kim (FSU President), Caroline            Coscia (FSU Vice President). Motion seconded. Motion approved unanimously.

    6. Budget cuts and UMB funding: Discussed the current situation and need to create an outreach strategy and media campaign.  

    7. Report on All President’s meeting and October Bargaining summit:  Delivered by Monique Fuguet on the All President’s meeting and the Bargaining Summit. Suggestion that an email go out to inform                  members of the Bargaining Summit and to inform the speaking representatives of the bargaining team of the November 22 meeting of UMass higher education unions on the issue of coalition bargaining.

Motion to adjourn. Motion seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
