MTA Retirement Workshops- June 16 and June 24

We’d like to inform you of the following retirement workshops conducted by the MTA’s retirement specialist, Ed McCourt (see his email below). These workshops are for FSU/MTA members only.

I’d like to advise you and the FSU membership at UMB of two opportunities for retirement consultation this month.  On Thursday, 6/16 and Friday, 6/24, 40-minute individual sessions are available between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

For those just now hearing about retirement consultations, these sessions assist members in securing answers to retirement questions as they relate to the member’s specific situation.  For example:

- Given my age and my service, when is the best time for me to retire?

- I’ve heard that members may be able to “buy back” service. Might I have a buy back opportunity?

- I’m involved with the Section-60 option for transfer into the MSERS?  Where I am in this process?

- Why take option “C” instead of Option “A” or “B”?

- How will my Social Security benefit be affected by my MA pension?

- Where will I stand with health insurance in retirement?  Will I be going into Medicare?

- As I move toward retirement, what, if any options, exists for me to enhance my retirement benefit?

Interested members should, click on this link and register (There is an image of the link’s display at bottom. Members start by clicking on the tab to the left, going the June calendar and clicking on either date). 

Registration requires a member’s name and email, a best phone contact, the member’s campus affiliation, the member’s MTA number, found on the wallet-sized membership card, and preference for a call or online Meet (Zoom-like) session.  Once completed, a confirmation email is generated.     

If neither of these days is suitable or if all slots are taken, members should email me directly.  I will place their names on an email list to receive announcements of additional summer ‘22 retirement consultation opportunities.
