Information for Ratification of the Tentative 20-23 Collective Bargaining Agreement

1/27/2022

Dear FSU Member,

The next step in the process of approving (or not) the tentative agreement reached between the FSU Core Bargaining Team and the UMB Administration is ratification. FSU members can vote yes or no on ratifying the tentative agreement. If 50%+1 of all votes cast are in favor of ratification, the tentative agreement will be approved and will become the operative contract effective immediately. If 50%+1 of all votes cast are opposed to ratification, the parties (FSU and Admin) will have to negotiate a new tentative agreement, which will in turn have to be ratified.

Attached are two documents which provide information on the tentative agreement: (1) the draft Memorandum of Agreement between Admin and FSU that summarized the terms of the agreement (the same document sent yesterday) and (2) the Power Point summary of the agreement presented at yesterday's member meeting (final contract language is still being worked on; we will send that to members once it is complete). The FSU Core Bargaining Team and FSU Executive Committee both recommend that members ratify the tentative agreement.

Members will receive their ballots by email via Qualtrics sometime this morning (please check your Junk or Spam folders if you do not receive it). The ratification vote will be open until 5PM on February 2nd.

On a related note: the budgetary items of the contract (primarily, the across the board raises) will need to be approved by the state legislature and signed into law by the Governor before they can be implemented. The FSU/MTA is working to ensure that our contract is included in the next appropriations bill. We will keep members informed of progress in this area and on when we can expect our raises to be implemented.

If you have any questions about the tentative agreement please contact the FSU Core Bargaining Team. If you have any questions or concerns on the ratification process please contact the FSU Elections Committee.
