FSU Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, April 30, 2024, 3:30-5:00 pm (Zoom)

Executive Committee Members Present: Caroline Coscia (President); Sana Haroon (Vice President); Suha Ballout; Chris Barcelos; Dana Commesso; Monique Fuguet; Jessica Holden; Patricia Krueger-Henney; Linda Liu; Jared Poole; Wei Zhang

1. Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve the minutes of the April 16, 2024, Executive Committee meeting. Motion seconded. Motion passes.
   
    
2. Approval of Agenda: Motion to approve the agenda. Motion seconded. Motion passes.

3. Columbia Solidarity Petition: Request to endorse a petition supporting student protestors at Columbia: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScHA6XY8_B40zxf8Mbhys2fXYQKMUkBJ9sPKtLn6MNqUGMuww/viewform. Discussion of FSU endorsements as well as this specific petition and whether to endorse it. UAW represents many graduate students across the country. The petition describes what has been happening on the Columbia campus over the past couple of weeks. Motion to endorse the petition. Motion seconded. Motion passes. FSU will sign on to endorse and will send out an announcement to the membership.
   
    
4. The Point: Discussion of the issue of The Point that Steve drafted for Thursday. Discussion of how the Executive Committee agenda is communicated to members. The Executive Committee will further discuss communications regarding meeting agendas at the first meeting of the fall semester.
   
    
5. End of Semester FSU Gatherings: Two gatherings planned for next week: Tuesday, May 7, 12:00-2:00 in University Dining Club; Wednesday, May 8, 12:00-2:00 in the Point Lounge, 3^rd floor of Campus Center. There will be refreshments at both gatherings.
