BUSINESS
- Approval of agenda: Motion to accept agenda as presented. Motion seconded. Motion passes.
- Welcome and announcements
- Thank you, Tim Sieber!
- Past year’s accomplishments: Discussion of the FSU’s activities this year, including:
- Labor Management meetings
- Faculty Council: FSU non-voting representative – Steve Striffler
- Committees: university committees, FSU contractual committees, FSU ad hoc committees, FSU by-law related committees
- MTA-related activities: MTA Higher Education Leadership Council, UMass Unions United
- Collective bargaining: Oct. 2019 – Apr. 2022, member updates, expanded bargaining
- Antiracist initiatives
- Covid-related activities: mask mandate, air testing
- NTT workshops
- Coalition work with sister unions: all-union protest in Nov. 2021, parking coalition
4. Adopt FSU Budget (contact FSU office for info): Monique presents proposed FY23 FSU Budget. Ex Comm recommends proposed budget with $3 dues increase to $304 (3/24/22). There will be no increase in MTA or NEA dues. Discussion. Motion to increase Lorenzo’s salary to at least $100,000. [Lorenzo and Katie remove themselves from meeting.] Motion seconded. Discussion. Motion to close discussion. Motion does not pass. Motion to raise Lorenzo’s salary by 5% ($7 dues increase). Motion seconded. Motion passes. Motion to approve full budget as amended. Motion seconded. Motion to close discussion. Motion passes with 32 yeses and 4 abstentions.
5. MTA Annual Meeting: May 20 and 21, 14 FSU delegates
6. Member input on next year priorities: Discussion of priorities for next year. Topics include expanded bargaining, bargaining priorities, keeping a larger core bargaining team that includes an AL member, creation of online courses. Thank you to Steve Striffler!
