Katie D’Urso (MTA rep);
- Approval of the agenda and the minutes of the September 9 Executive Committee meeting: Motion to approve the agenda and minutes. Motion seconded. Motion passes.
- Parking Bargaining Update: The parking bargaining coalition met last Friday with Joel Posner and Kevin Levingston (head of parking) to discuss a proposal that was presented on July 19. Concerns include people not receiving their parking passes quickly enough and people getting citations when taking too long to leave the garage. There will be an all-union meeting on this issue on Wednesday, September 29 from 12:00-1:00.
- General Assembly: The FSU by-laws state that we must hold an annual meeting, which we hold every spring. The FSU decided to hold a general assembly this fall, which will be on Thursday, October 7. Agenda items will include main table bargaining, parking bargaining, and health and safety.
- Approve Current Grievance Committee: Current committee members: Paul Dyson, Ellen Frank, Trei Martin, and Laurie Milliken. Motion to approve current committee members. Motion seconded. Passes unanimously.
- Department Visits: Updates from Ex Comm members on department visits and outreach. Several members have already visited departments and others have meetings scheduled for later in the semester. So far, faculty and librarians have expressed concerns regarding health and safety and noise from campus construction.
- Health/Safety: The FSU has held meetings, issued statements, had members email the Administration, and worked with Faculty Council. The university’s covid dashboard is improving, but the notification system regarding positive cases and exposure is flawed. UHS is not notifying students and faculty of positive cases quickly enough. There has been no effort from the Administration to reduce density on shuttles, in classrooms, or in other campus areas. The FSU, with help from the MTA and other campus unions, will be testing ventilation in Wheatley and McCormack this semester.
- Forums: Wednesday, September 29: All-union meeting on parking, safety, and a talk from MTA Vice President Max Page on the Fair Share Amendment. Additional potential forums for this semester:
- Media/communications: FSU is scheduling a meeting with Scott McLennan from MTA on this issue.
- FSU engagement at the state/federal level. We could collaborate with other campus unions, MTA, and/or HELU on this forum.
- NTT equity
8. Bargaining – Contract Action Team: Chris Fung will chair the Contract Action Team, which will help the FSU organize around bargaining. The next main table bargaining session is scheduled for October 12. We will likely receive a salary proposal from the Administration. The state parameters for salary raises are 2% - 2% - 2%. The Administration is not conducive to continuing expanded bargaining.
- Brief impromptu discussion related to Convocation.
9. Racial Justice Initiatives: DID NOT GET TO THIS ITEM
10. Racially-Just Policing: Discussion with Jessica Lewis and Rahsaan Hall from ACLU Massachusetts. Jessica Lewis presented recommendations from the ACLU on racially-just policing. https://www.aclum.org/en/racially-just-policing-campus.
