FSU Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

September 20, 2019

Ex Com Members Present: Marlene Kim; Jessica Holden; Joseph Brown; Caroline Coscia; Jeff Melnick; Ellen Frank; Monique Fuguet; Joe Ramsey; Tracy Brown; Emilio Sauri; Tim SIeber

Others Present: Lorenzo Nencioli, FSU Membership Coordinator; Heather LaPenn, MTA Consultant; Alex Mueller, FSU member; Glover (Trei) Martin, FSU NTT Grievance Officer; Linda Liu, FSU member; Karen Suyemoto, FSU member

1. Approval of the agenda: Motion to switch #4 (FSU Committees) and #5 (FSU Bargaining team and bargaining support team), move #8 (delayed reimbursements to October meeting. Motion to approve agenda as amended seconded. Motion to approve agenda as amended approved.
2. Approval of the minutes: Motion to approve 5/17/19 Ex Com minutes. Motion seconded. Motion approved. Motion to approve all other minutes (5/17/19 e-vote on Faculty of Color report, 5/31/19 e-vote on Faculty Council statement on Chancellor search, 7/14/19 e-vote on shared governance and the Chancellor search committee, 8/1/19 e-vote on support letter for PSU member on Chancellor search committee). Motion seconded. Motion approved.
3. Introductions/meeting protocols: Discussion of June 2019 FSU Retreat. Heather and Ellen will write up notes, send to the Ex Com.
4. FSU Bargaining team and bargaining support team: Discussion of basics of bargaining process, bargaining team and bargaining support committee nominees, criteria for selecting bargaining team members; other suggestions for criteria regarding selecting bargaining team members. Suggestion to possibly make bargaining team criteria a formal/binding document. Discussion of process for interviewing nominees. Discussion of whether, when to go into executive session.

Motion to go into executive session. Motion passes.

     5.  FSU Committees: Motions to approve the following regarding FSU committees/positions:

Sylvia Mignon was elected as FSU Clerk, beginning immediately

Sofya Aptekar stepped down from the FSU Elections Committee

Caroline Coscia is added to FSU Elections Committee to replace Sofya.

Ellen Frank stepped down as FSU Treasurer

Monique Fuguet was approved as FSU Treasurer

Caroline Coscia, Ursula Tafe, and Shawna Butler are approved as bargaining team members for intra-campus bargaining, with Marlene Kim and Heather LaPenn (or the MTA consultant) working with the team and kept in the loop.

Caroline Coscia and Marlene Kim are approved as bargaining team representatives from the FSU to the PFML bargaining coalition

Motions seconded. Motions approved.
