FSU Executive Committee Meeting Minutes, Friday, October 27, 2017

Members Present: Marlene Kim; John Hess; Peggy Walsh; Sofya Aptekar; Steve Levine; Ellen Frank; Joe Ramsey; Steve Striffler; Karen Suyemoto; Askold Melynczuk; Tina Mullins

Others Present: Lorenzo Nencioli, FSU Membership Coordinator; Jeff Keisler, TT Grievance Officer

  1. Approval of the agenda- Discussion of mentioning RUM petitions after bargaining update.  Motion made to move original item #13 (bargaining policy discussion) and original item #6 (bargaining) to after #3 (uncollectibles). Motion seconded. Motion passes.
  2. Approval of the minutes and evotes- Motion to approve. Motion seconded. Motion approved.
  3. Uncollectables-   Motion made to approve list. Motion seconded. Motion approve.
  4. Bargaining policy discussion- Brief discussion of bargaining team’s response to proposal given last May 2017 on bargaining policy. Motion made to form committee to examine bargaining policy proposal. Motion seconded. Discussion of motion.

STEVEN LEVINE, TINA MULLINS ENTER

Friendly amendment offered to have committee formed with deadline for completion of work before December Ex Com meeting. Committee to be comprised of original writers of report should they want to be on committee along with other members. Friendly amendment accepted. Motion as amended seconded. Motion as amended approved (2 abstentions). Steve Levine, Marlene Kim, Sofya Aptekar, John Hess will be on committee. Andres Henao-Castro will be asked if he wants to serve on committee.

   5. Bargaining Update- Ex Com goes into executive session.  

JEFF KEISLER ENTERS

      Executive session ends.   

    6. Treasurer’s Report Discussion and votes on possible changes to the FSU budget- Ellen: current surplus projected is $8,200. Significant money to be asked for clinical track negotiators. Suggest $500                payment Jobs With Justice. Suggest funding an end of year party. Withdraw suggestion to fund meals for Grievance Committee and for Ex Com meetings. Motion made to approve concept of having and          funding an end of the year party. Motion seconded. Motion approved. Motion made to provide $500 to Jobs With Justice. Motion seconded. Motion approved. Motion to reconsider vote for Jobs                With Justice.  Motion seconded, and motion approved.  Motion to give Jobs With Justice $150, give $350 for food for organizing efforts. Motion seconded. Motion approved.

    7. Weekly Ex Com phone calls-  Motion made to allow grievance officers to participate. Motion seconded. Motion passes.

    8. Associate lecturers investigatory committee- Motion made to approve formation of committee. Motion seconded. Motion approved.
