FSU Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

Executive Committee Members Present: Steve Striffler; Caroline Coscia; Tracy Brown; Jessica Holden; Travis Johnston; Linda Liu; José Martínez-Reyes; Joe Ramsey; Tim Sieber

  1. Approval of the agenda: Motion to approve the agenda. Motion seconded. Motion passes unanimously.

     
  2. Review of Executive Committee schedule for Spring 2021: 2:00-3:30 on January 22, February 5, February 17, March 3, March 24, April 9, April 21, and May 7.

     
  3. MTA Letter on including higher ed employees in Phase II of COVID-19 vaccinations: Discussion of whether to sign onto letter. Motion to sign onto letter. Motion seconded. Motion passes with 5-4 vote.

     
  4. Elections: Positions up for election this spring are Vice President, 2 NTT positions, 3 TT positions, and 1 pre-tenure position. Nominations period for FSU elections is January 29 – February 12. Discussion of recruiting members to run.

     
  5. FSU Forums: Discussion of possible spring topics: Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (José will lead this forum in February), NTT issues, unpaid labor, new sexual harassment policy and sexual misconduct policy, labor education and organizing, union-relevant research, Bayside development, student evaluations, politics and academia, and academic freedom (FSU could collaborate with Faculty Council on this topic).

     
  6. Annual Spring Meeting: Wednesday, April 28 from 2:00-3:30.

     
  7. Department Visits: Upcoming visits: Wednesday January 27 with Nursing and February 3 with Exercise and Health Sciences; 20 minutes each. Steve will email Executive Committee, Core Bargaining Team, and Grievance Committee with dates of department visits. Ideally 2-3 members could join each department visit.

     
  8. Open Discussion: Discussion of constituting an NTT survey subcommittee, including unpaid service and invisible labor. Subcommittee volunteers: Joe, Steve, Linda, Travis, Caroline. Emily McDermott’s last day as Provost is January 29.
