BUSINESS
- Welcome. Announcements: State parameters have been released for raises. Introductions.
- Past year’s activities: Forums, surveys, department meeting visits, constituency meeting visits, collective bargaining, expanded bargaining, grievance committee, FSU committees, university committees.
- Review of Course Load Reductions (CLRs) for Fall 21 and Spring 22. FSU will bargain for additional CLRs.
- FSU and JCC Budgets (contact FSU office for info): Discussion of proposed FSU FY22 budget. FSU Executive Committee recommending membership dues increase of $25 per year for FY22. Move to approve FY22 proposed FSU budget with $25 dues increase. Motion seconded. Discussion of motion. Vote to call the question (close discussion): motion passes. Motion to approve FY22 budget with $25 dues increase passes.
- Bargaining Update: Discussion of interactions with the Administration and of FSU proposals.
- MTA: Max Page and Suzanne Wall provide updates on higher education funding and the Cherish Act. UMB is getting $18.5 million in latest round of funding from American Rescue Plan Act. State budget was level funded for the fall. House budget is $30 million more than last year. Goals: Debt-free higher education; NTT justice – health insurance, pay parity, pensions; Green New Deal for higher education campuses – invest heavily in rebuilding campuses, retrofit, build better transportation systems for our campuses. Fair Share Amendment: constitutional amendment that MTA helped draft that would raise taxes on people who make more than $1 million per year (~19,000 multimillionaires in Massachusetts) – will be on ballot in November 2022.
- Member input on next year priorities: Discussion of priorities for next year.
