10/25/2021

Greetings, Colleagues!

I’m thinking about narrative a whole lot this week.

I guess I always do, but this week in particular.

Bargaining Invite and Update

10/21/2021

Dear FSU Members,

The Point: Lemonade

10/18/2021

Greetings, Colleagues:

A funny thing happened on the way to this week’s Point.  I had planned to write about last week’s bargaining session, which was held last Tuesday afternoon.  But then I didn’t make it to the “table.”  I was there as usual, Zoom link fired up, ready to observe the proceedings as I have been doing for the past year as part our union’s expanded bargaining team.

FSU Executive Committee Meeting TODAY, 3:30-5

10/14/2021

Dear FSU Members,

The FSU Executive Committee will be TODAY Thursday from 3:30-5 pm.

These meetings are open to all members.  (contact FSU or Steve Striffler for Zoom information).

The meetings tend to be a mix of routine, keep-the-trains-running, agenda items along with more substantive discussion about the larger issues facing faculty and librarians.   This week we will be talking about anti-racism initiatives, plans for an NTT workshop, bargaining, and other issues.

Today - 9:00am - FSU Media Workshop - improving our media game!

10/13/2021

Dear FSU Members,

Today at 9:00am the FSU will host a one-hour workshop with Scott McLennan from the MTA on how to improve the FSU's ability to get our message out to media outlets -- how do we frame the issues that are important to us, communicate them to media and broader public, etc.?   Come get some important skills and training!

Please join us if you can:   (contact FSU or Steve Striffler for Zoom information).

Steve

Bargaining on Tuesday - we need you

10/9/2021

Dear FSU Members,

Please join us on Tuesday at 3:00 pm to support the union’s demand for open and transparent bargaining:   (contact FSU or Steve Striffler for Zoom information).

The Administration is refusing to continue with expanded bargaining.  The expanded bargaining MOU signed in 2020 allows 30 of our members to join the core bargaining team in bargaining sessions (as audience members).  This system has functioned smoothly for the past year.
