Contract Negotiation Updates

6/1/17

Since our last update, we have met with the Administration three times, twice to discuss Clinical Nursing faculty proposals and once to discuss Librarian proposals. Needless to say, no agreement on either proposal has yet been reached though we remain engaged on both issues.

ACTIVIST ALERT: Wear or pass out ‘fund UMB’ stickers at graduation tomorrow

Dear Colleagues:

Campus organizers working with the Coalition to Save UMB have created eye-catching stickers that we're encouraging faculty, students, and others to wear at tomorrow's UMB undergraduate commencement.  The simple message:  "Fund UMB."

Spring 2018 cuts, May 20 rally, and other important updates from the FSU

Dear Colleague,

We want to update you on a number of important issues:

Course Cancellations for Spring 2018:  We are hearing that there are possibly more course cancellations in departments for the spring of 2018.  Let us know what is happening in your department, and how many fewer sections and/or faculty you may have, and the effects of these (higher course caps, more teaching CAPs or Navitas).

Update on Bargaining

5/4/17

For previous updates see here.

As the semester comes to an end the FSU bargaining team continues bargaining with the administration.  Below is a status update on the numerous issues we are currently discussing at the table:

FSU Annual Meeting this Wednesday at 2 pm and other news

Dear Colleague,

The FSU Annual Meeting is this Wednesday, April 26th, 2PM in Crossley Lounge (Wheatley, 6th floor, room 47). Please contact the FSU to see an agenda, the proposed FSU FY18 budget, and the proposed FSU bylaws changes.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

Course cancellation update and Research Intensive Semester meeting this Friday

Dear Colleagues,

We are hearing that many fall classes have been cancelled, including CAPS courses with no input from faculty or departments.   We are also hearing that class sizes are increasing.  Please let us know if this is occurring in your department.  Please let us know if any of these cancelled classes usually fill or are required for the major, and if faculty have been consulted about teaching larger classes (if these have increased).  Departments are supposed to decide courses and course sizes, not the administration.

REMINDER: FSU Annual Meeting Wednesday April 26 – Vote on Proposed Bylaws Changes
