Introducing the FSU LGBTQIA+ Caucus

10/25/2022

On behalf of the newly formed LGBTQIA+ Caucus, we want to thank all of those who submitted slides and attended the first 5 and a Slide event. There are fascinating things happening across the university and it was a joy to see this work presented in a fun and laidback atmosphere. To those who couldn’t come, we will likely have another go at this event in the future.

The Point: Are You a CAT Person?

10/24/2022

Greetings Colleagues,

Subject: Contract Action Team

Action Item: Consider Joining It!

As you will learn from our other blast email today (“Nuts and Bolts”) the Executive Committee  of the FSU last week elected our Core Bargaining Team (CBT) to take on the work of negotiating the successor contract to the one that we completed seemingly 15 minutes ago.  Our current contract expires at the end of June 2023 and the plan is to begin the next round of bargaining this coming winter.

Africana Studies Search Committee

10/21/2022

Dear Colleagues,

As you may know, the administration has been attempting to constitute a search committee to fill three newly-announced positions in the Africana Studies Department by January 2023. While we strongly support the decision to fund these lines, we are concerned that no members of the Africana Studies Department are on this search committee, and also feel that it is unlikely that a successful search—particularly for two senior positions--can be carried out in this short span of time.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness Waiver expires Oct 31st

10/21/2022

Dear Members,

There are 11 days left until the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) waiver expires. Attached is a flyer with information on what you need to do before the expiration date.

We want as many members as possible to understand what’s at stake here – and know that there are only a few days left to take advantage.
