NTT workshop on AFRs

8/31/2021

Dear NTT faculty,

Our Annual Faculty Review (AFR) is due on Monday, September 20th.   For some completing the AFR is old hat, for others a new or relatively new experience.

To assist and provide insight into the AFR process, the FSU is holding a workshop on Monday, September 13th from 3:30PM to 4:30PM in ISC 1-1400.

Dear FSU Members,

We write to share a poignant Opinion piece on the “war on drugs” that just appeared in the Washington Post from one of our members and colleagues, Professor Tony Van Der Meer.

FSU - Important Update and Action

8/26/2021

Dear FSU Members,

Yesterday the FSU held a Forum on safety and the campus Fall opening that was attended by about 90 members.  The meeting was clarifying on a number of levels, but perhaps most simply in the consensus that the university is not doing enough to protect the campus (and wider) community as we return in the midst of the ongoing challenge posed by Delta.

Tomorrow’s FSU Forum – Guest…Format Change

8/24/2021

Dear FSU Members,

A slight/recent change in format.   Rob Pomales, the Executive Director of University Health Services, will be joining the first half of our meeting tomorrow, from 9:00 to 9:45.  He will address concerns around campus density, tracing, and vaccines.  The second half from 9:45 to 10:30 will be an open meeting for FSU members to discuss safety issues and paths forward for faculty and librarians.

(contact FSU or Steve Striffler for Zoom information).

FSU Forum on Fall Opening – Wednesday 9am

8/23/2021

Dear FSU Members,

You have probably seen the Chancellor’s memo containing the university’s “Fall 2021 COVID-19 Policies & Guidelines.”  We have already received emails from members noting that although the policies/guidelines address some issues, the memo falls short in a number of areas – including some of the concerns outlined in this FSU statement that over 90% of faculty supported (out of over 400 polled).

FSU Survey/Vote Results and Vaccine Mandate

8/18/2021

Dear FSU Members,

A quick update on possible vaccine mandate and two recent FSU surveys.

Vaccine mandate:  The FSU has been in discussions with the Administration about a vaccine requirement for all faculty and librarians.  We expect the policy will be announced this week.

Urgent Survey-Vote on FSU Statement on Fall Opening

8/26/2021

Dear FSU Members,

Please go to the following link/survey to approve (or not) the below statement, which was approved by the FSU Executive Committee, endorsed by the Department Chairs Union, and written by a group of faculty who attended the FSU Forum on August 10th.  This statement will be given to the Administration in order to promote a safer Fall campus opening.  Additional information on vaccine mandate, accommodations to teach remote, remote teaching survey results, etc…will follow soon.

NTT Faculty and AFRs

8/12/2021

Dear Non-Tenure Faculty,

As you start to prepare for Fall semester, I want to remind you to include completing your Annual Faculty Review (AFR) to your semester to do list.

AFRs are due no later than September 20th to your department chair.   To access the AFR system go to https://www.umb.edu/faculty_staff/afr.

Why is it important to annually complete an AFR?
