Brief update on our raises

12/1/2023

Raise Update:  The Legislature's conference committee has come to an agreement (H4204) on the supplemental budget. This means both the House and Senate need to vote on H4204.  At the time of this email, both are scheduled to go into informal session at 11AM today.   We will send you an update once any action takes place.

Sincerely,

The Point: Navigating Complex Global Tragedies with Library Resources

11/30/2023

Today’s Point was written by FSU members and UMB librarians Jessica Holden (Reference Archivist) and Mary Moser (Engagement and Advancement Librarian)

Dear Colleagues,

As the global tragedies unfold around us, the deluge of information from all channels can feel overwhelming. Your colleagues in Healey Library want to remind you of the available resources that can help you make some sense of current events and the historical context that led us to this point.*

THURSDAY @ 12:15: Take Action to Fund our Raises

11/28/2023

Dear Members,

Join us this Thursday at 12:15PM!

Time is running out to fund our raises before the New Year. We’ve been told that if the Massachusetts Legislature can’t fund state worker raises by the first week of December, that it will likely be too late for us to see our raises and retro pay before the holidays.

That means we must turn up the heat ASAP. Join your union siblings outside the Chancellor’s Office this Thursday, November 30th for 8 minutes of action.

Nuts & Bolts: 8 Minutes of action for 8%, raise update, additional students and NTT additional work

Dear Members,

JOIN ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH NOON FOR 8 MINUTES OF ACTION FOR 8%

Mark your calendar for Thursday, November 30th at noon!!  Join fellow UMB union members in a campus 8 minutes for 8% action.

Let’s show our administration how collective action works.  Our campus action is one piece of an MTA multiprong approach to continue to put pressure on the legislature to fund our raises.

Nuts & Bolts: Our Raises, State House Rally, Release Time, and PMYR

11/20/2023

Dear Members,

Raises: Thank You for Your Actions.

Thank you to all who emailed or called your representative and/or senator.

I cannot remember when the state legislature did not pass a supplemental budget, especially one that contained employee raises.  I am frustrated and I know you are.   We need to tell them how we feel.

Pay Raises: Update and Action Plan

11/17/2023

Dear Members,

We are working with other higher education unions and our parent union, the MTA, to get the state legislature to fund our contract.

Our message to legislators needs to be clear: they must pass a bill validating our contracts before Thanksgiving.  Here’s what you can do:

Rally at the State House Monday Morning, Demand the Legislature Fund our Contracts!

11/16/2023

Dear Members,

We are shocked and disgusted that the state legislature has failed to pass the supplemental budget that would pay our raises. Meet us at the State House on Monday November 20th to rally for ourselves and for our fellow state employees.

Monday November 20, 11 am: Attend the Legislature’s informal session

Monday November 20, 12 noon: Rally and press conference outside the State House

The Point: Educators Need the Legal Right to Strike

7PM at the State House, tell legislators to fund our contract!

11/15/2023

Dear Members,

Today is the day to tell our legislators to fund our raises.

Both the House and Senate will be in session tonight where we and all state employee unions hope the differences in the supplemental budget bills will be resolved.  Being resolved means our contract will be funded now and not in January.
