The Faculty Staff Union Mourns the Loss of Life in Israel and Palestine

11/1/2023

We, the members of the Faculty Staff Union Executive Committee, mourning the loss of life in Israel and Palestine, voted to join the American Labor Movement in calling for US politicians to demand an immediate ceasefire and release of hostages in Gaza.

We believe it is our responsibility to ensure that our campus remains a safe place for our community to discuss, share, debate, and to foster learning, empathy, and understanding, without fear. We must acknowledge and give voice to the collective grief of all members of our community.

The Point: Solidarity: A love story

10/26/2023

Dear Member,

The American media reflexively depicts unions that stand up for themselves as selfish or stupid. In James Baldwin’s words, any “relatively conscious” working person can see that nothing could be further from the truth.
